Demand For Senior Care is Growing in Wisconsin

As the population ages, communities across Wisconsin are seeing increased demand for senior care services. New senior living developments and expanding care options reflect a broader trend taking shape nationwide: more older adults require support, and families are seeking a range of solutions to help their loved ones remain safe, healthy, and independent.

One of the driving forces behind this shift is the continued aging of the Baby Boomer generation. Every day, approximately 10,000 Baby Boomers reach retirement age, increasing the need for both residential senior living communities and in-home care services.

According to Brady Schwab, Chief Growth and Strategic Operations Officer at Right at Home, demographic trends indicate that demand for senior care will remain strong for decades to come.

“Wisconsin faces a future where older adults will eventually outnumber children for the first time in history,” Schwab said. “Our latest data suggests there are more than 36,000 seniors age 65 and older in the Sheboygan market alone, representing nearly 21% of the total population.”

These changing demographics are creating opportunities for businesses that serve older adults while highlighting the importance of having a variety of care options available. Although senior living communities continue to expand, many seniors and their families prefer solutions that allow them to remain in their homes for as long as possible.

The Growing Role of In-Home Care

As awareness of aging-in-place options increases, in-home care is becoming a critical part of the senior care ecosystem. Right at Home provides support with everyday activities such as meal preparation, bathing, transportation, housekeeping, companionship, and other services that help older adults maintain independence.

“There are people who still don’t know about the at-home care option until they’re in some sort of crisis,” Schwab said. “A parent may experience a fall or another health event, and suddenly the family needs help right away. They recognize that some activities of daily living are becoming more difficult, and they need support.”

For many families, in-home care serves as a bridge between a health event and a potential transition to a higher level of care. By providing personalized assistance at home, seniors can often continue living where they are most comfortable while maintaining their quality of life.

“We help them stay home longer and stay safe, happy, and healthy,” Schwab said.

Opportunities in Growing Markets

The increasing senior population has also created opportunities for franchise expansion. Right at Home has identified communities across Wisconsin, including the Sheboygan market, as areas where demand for in-home care continues to grow.

“Sheboygan has many of the characteristics we look for from a franchising perspective,” Schwab said. “Right at Home already has a strong presence in Wisconsin, and we continue to see opportunities to bring high-quality in-home care services to more families throughout the state.”

Beyond serving seniors directly, in-home care providers play an important role within the broader healthcare system by helping older adults remain connected to other healthcare resources and services.

“We’re always excited about making home the center of health,” Schwab said.

Looking Ahead

The growth of Wisconsin’s senior population is reshaping the care landscape. As families seek flexible, personalized solutions for aging loved ones, the demand for quality senior care services will continue to rise.

Whether through senior living communities, home health services, or in-home care, providers across the industry are working to meet the evolving needs of older adults. For Right at Home, that means helping seniors age where they most want to be: at home.
