The Right Mindset for Validating a Franchise Opportunity

One of the most important steps in exploring your franchise journey with Right at Home is franchisee validation. This provides an opportunity to speak with current owners and learn about their experiences.

While it’s natural to focus on learning more about business operations, the most valuable validation conversations happen when you approach them with the right mindset. You aren’t just checking an item off your to-do list. Instead, you are seeking to understand whether this opportunity aligns with your goals, values, and vision for the future.

Focus on More Than Just the Facts

It can be tempting to approach validation as a fact-finding mission. While these details matter, the bigger objective is understanding the business and how operating a franchise would fit into your life.

Each franchise owner brings a unique background, leadership style, and set of priorities. As you listen to their experiences, pay attention to how their journey aligns with the mission you are looking to build.

After connecting with an owner, check in with yourself. Can you see yourself building a similar culture in your business? Do their day-to-day tasks align with how you want to spend your time?

Look for Patterns

One conversation won’t tell the whole story, which is why we require you to speak with at least three franchisees.

As you connect with owners, look for common themes. You may start to notice patterns in areas like:

  • The level of support provided to each owner
  • How owners approach team building and culture
  • Their overall experience as part of the system

These patterns will give you a clearer picture of the business, and if you don’t feel like you have all the answers, you can keep contacting owners until you do.

Be Respectful of Their Time

Our franchisees are often balancing teams, clients, and daily operations. Approaching validation with respect and professionalism goes a long way.

A scheduled call allows for a more focused and meaningful conversation. It ensures the owners can give you their full attention and creates a better experience for everyone involved.

Moving Forward with Confidence

By the end of your validation conversations, the ultimate goal is clarity.

We hope that you walk away from this experience better equipped to have a productive check-in call with your Development Director, where you can discuss insights and next steps.

This process takes time. Don’t rush it; stay curious, and lean into the process. This is your opportunity to make an informed and confident decision about your future.
