Tuesday Talk: Strategic Growth with Brady Schwab

Intro & Background

Brady Schwab, Chief Growth Officer, has been with Right at Home for the past two years. He has a background in hearing health care, working both clinically and then also with a multinational hearing health care company. After having different roles in sales, business development, and M&A, he joined Right at Home. Now Brady helps grow the Right at Home footprint - from finding great franchisees to join the system to M&A activities around corporate-owned locations. He is also involved in corporate innovations which include developing new ways to serve the clients and franchisees, as well as finding strategic partners who can complement and augment Right at Home's offerings.

Innovative Solutions for Franchisees

Brady discusses that Right at Home is working to expand in two different directions. Horizontal expansion, which means how do we plan more flags and get a Right at Home office closer to more and more seniors throughout the US and frankly, the world. But, there is also vertical growth. Within each office, how do we think about how we can be more impactful, more effective, and more efficient. We want to bring more value to the services that we offer under the Right at Home umbrella. Some of the focus from the innovation standpoint, is around bringing technology and technology-enabled care to our clients. Brady does not believe that human caregiving will go out of style anytime soon. Having worked with seniors for a long time in his career, he believes that as we get older, we want more human contact and more of a connection. Plus, individual care is really personal and dynamic. There aren't enough workers to be able to meet the home care needs that will exist in the future. We will have to have technology enable care, rather than replace care.

Right at Home is testing how to bring remote monitoring into care. We want to be really experimental and experiential; test products rather than just push them out. In bringing technology to a home, it can't be a camera as it needs to deliver a low degree of intrusion and a high degree of privacy. Brady doesn't think it will be long before we see that shift, but we have to be realistic about where the market is.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Brady explains that AI is rapidly evolving and touches every aspect of their operations, from back-office automation to direct patient care. AI is only going to help us do a better job, enable us to have a richer experience with our clients, and leverage our unique relationship inside the home.

Pocket RN Virtual Nursing Service

Pocket RN is a virtual nursing service that provides RN care via technology to fold in their home. Medicare approved a demonstration program called GUIDE, bringing traditional Medicare recipients some benefits for those suffering from dementia, such as med management, family counseling, some supplemental benefits to pay for respite care for the family caregiver or in our care, a Right at Home caregiver can come and provide that respite. Brady believes the partnership is only going to grow with Pocket RN GUIDE and with other opportunities.

New CRM Platform and Technologies

Right at Home is getting ready to implement a new CRM platform (Zoho) within the franchise system. Corporate has already started to use it internally. The Zoho system has a tremendous amount of AI built into it. Brady is excited to see what it can do, because of the possibility of creating predictive components to the data.

Franchisee Innovation

Brady explains that franchisees can develop and test new programs as long as they fit within the franchise agreement and scope of services. He highlights the importance of franchisee feedback and the role of the Strategic Leadership Council (SLC) in vetting and testing new ideas. Right at Home believes in the importance of franchisee feedback and the role of the SLC in vetting and testing new ideas.

Future Plans and 2025 Strategy

Brady is excited about the growth, innovation, and partnerships coming in 2025. The new year will focus on packaging and rolling out RightAssist. The annual Home Improvement event will present Corporate's commitment to making business operations more sustainable and profitable for franchisees. 2025 will also focus on the importance of doubling down on successful initiatives and being open to new opportunities.
