Russ & Juanita Bradley

Through multiple moves throughout the country, Russell Bradley has turned a negative situation into a positive endeavor with his Right at Home franchise.

After a history of traveling throughout the world as a child while his father was in the Air Force, Russell grew up in Charleston, S.C. At the age of 18, Russell left home and began to explore the professional world. He bounced from job to job by the age of 21, when he decided to enlist in the Navy. Through his military experience, he was able to evolve into a role that allowed him to specialize in satellite communications and again travel to various parts of the world, including Australia.

After six years in the Navy, Russell finally settled in a permanent location in Stockton, Calif., where he met his wife, Juanita. After the Navy, Russell took a job with Sprint. While learning the fundamentals of business, leading a team, and gaining experience, Russell got noticed and was promoted by Sprint. He later took a position with US Electrodynamics and relocated to Massachusetts, spending the next five years as station manager. Although he and Juanita were finally becoming acquainted with the area, the couple moved again to Alexandria, Va., with Verestar for the next five years. At this point, Verestar filed for bankruptcy, so Russell took a job with Intelsat and commuted to Washington, D.C.; however, over some time, Intelsat decided to consolidate in Atlanta, allowing Russell to move there and manage a team of engineers.

Due to restructuring, Russell was let go from Intelsat. In a new location with no job, he began to research different business opportunities he could excel with his level of expertise and knowledge from his past experiences. When he learned more about the franchising industry, the idea of Right at Home sparked Russell’s interest. He saw it as an opportunity that had job security as well as being recession-proof. When he learned there was an available territory close to his new home, Russell decided to sign on as a new franchisee with Right at Home and establish a permanent home for his family.

How did you find out about Right at Home?
I learned about Right at Home through Franchoice, which matched me up with a variety of franchises that best suited me.

Why did you choose an opportunity with Right at Home?
There were a few reasons. From the choices I was given, Right at Home seemed to be the most recession-proof. I would be able to have much more involvement with people. Plus, this new career would be incredibly rewarding versus the other two options I had.

What personal experience do you have in your own family with caring for a senior?
You know, I have been fortunate enough to have everyone around me remain extremely healthy. My mother, who is very close to me, is exceedingly independent, even while going through cancer three different times. Through that experience, I learned how important in-home care is, and Right at Home came into my life at the “right” point in time.
